This is perhaps the most glorious lake I have ever seen. I have visited it many time with my 4×5 camera, and many times without. This was a wonderful day – the clouds gently diffused the sun like a giant softbox. Smoke from ever more frequent western Canadian forest fires filled the distant valley. Rock flour from thousands of years of glacial movement and melt filled the lake and reflected the sun – unbelievable blue and green hues in the water are the result.
There are no special effects in my landscape photographs. I document my favourite parts of the planet with colours and detail as true to life as I can possibly reproduce. Banff National Park is a precious jewel of Planet Earth.
