Early in the winter of 2009, I saw his ad in the local paper: 18 year-old sponsored skier from Tignes, France, looking for a photographer, was the gist of it. Myself having just returned from a winter in the great French ski resort of Méribel, I knew the massive terrain of Les Alpes produced some incredible skiers. I gave him a call.
It didn’t take long to realize that Douglas was an excellent skier, specializing in park, urban and powder skiing. The snow that season was nearly bottomless – possibly the best I have ever seen. We skied together a lot and produced content for Whistler-Blackcomb and Skieur magazine of France. These photos are from an incredible day of storm skiing on Blackcomb. In the reflection in Douglas’ goggles you can see the Wildcats boxer shorts I used to protect my camera from the snow. We found pillows unlike any I had seen in my decade in Whistler.
